VO Chidambaram College Is Open For UG And PG Admissions , Here's How You Can Apply

The VO Chidambaram College in Thoothukudi is now open for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Here's all about the admission process and eligibility.

New Delhi: As most academic boards in the country have released the results for class 12th, students are now looking forward to college admissions.  VO Chidambaram College in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), was built in the honor of the Indian freedom fighter and great Tamil scholar, VO Chidambaram by scholar and philanthropist, APC Veerabahu in July 1951. For decades the college is providing equal education to students, the vision of the college is “Education for all.” Founded 69 years ago as an intermediate college with just 18 teachers and 196 students, the college now offers 52 courses altogether: 15 undergraduate courses (11 aided, 3 unaided, 1 satellite), 15 postgraduate courses (9 aided, 3 unaided, 2 satellite, 1 UGC funded innovative course), 5 full-time M.Phil courses, 7 full-time PhD courses, and 10 add-on courses. The college especially wants to support youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. This year due to the pandemic just like most colleges VOC  is offering for admission only through online registration.   • Eligibility- A student who has successfully completed the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Courses or any other course recognised by the University of Madras or equivalent to it, with an appropriate branch of study in school is eligible for admission to that branch of the Bachelor’s Degree course. For admission to Post Graduate courses (PG), a candidate must have passed the 3 years degree courses (under the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern ) recognized by the University as equivalent.
  • Online Form- Fill the application form with the required details. Students should note that all enclosures must be less than 5Mb. (in JPG/JPEG format only).
  • Registration fees- To register students have to pay a nominal fee of Rs.50 or Rs. 60 based on the course there are applying for.
  • Payment mode- Students can pay the registration fees online or through bank transfer.
After the provisional list is released, by the college, the date of the interview will be intimated to the candidates through SMS.  Students along with the parents will have to come to college to meet the College Principal. At the time of the interview, it is mandatory that students bring the following documents
  • Score Certificate – (for UG) - Plus 1 and Plus 2 (+1, +2)
  • Score Certificate – (for PG )- (Compiled 6th Semester)
  • Acknowledgment Form (Acknowledgment Receipt given by College)
  • Community Certificate
  • Recent Passport Size Photo : 1
  • Students who are Differently-abled, son/daughter of ex-servicemen, athletes participating in sports, National Student Corps National Charity Movement submit the respective certificates with the required credentials.
