UP Class 10th Board: Exams Cancelled; All Students To Be Promoted To Next Class

Students in state were pushing for the cancellation of Class 10th & 12th board exams. However, there is no decision was released about the Class 12th board exams. 

Lucknow: In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a major decision to cancel Class 10th 2021 board exams, students will instead be promoted to the next class. 

Students in state were pushing for the cancellation of Class 10th & 12th board exams. However, there is no decision was released about the Class 12th board exams.

In what may come as a relief for nearly 30 lakh students, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has decided to promote the Class 10th students of the state without any exams. According to media reports, it will be the first time that the UP Board 10th result will be declared with a 100% pass percentage.

Students of both class 10th & 12th were campaigning to cancel the examinations since the second wave of Covid-19 hit. Students have said that conducting exams during such a crisis would be dangerous as could turn into a 'super spreader' event. 

As the cases began to rise last month, the schools in the state of Uttar Pradesh were shut down & for the the second time that the Board exams were deferred. The exams were earlier scheduled to be held from April 24 but the dates were pushed ahead because of the Panchayat elections. The next date was May 8 which has now been put off which was again pushed ahead a new decision was expected by May 25th. 

However, there has been no decision regarding the cancellation of the Class 12 board exams by the government yet.
