Telangana: Students Attend Classes In School With Umbrellas Due To Ceiling Leaks Amid Heavy Rains

As rainwater poured through the dilapidated roof and walls, both students and teachers were forced to hold umbrellas to stay dry while continuing their lessons.

The students were compelled to study under umbrellas inside their classrooms at Krishnapalli Zilla Parishad Secondary School in Nennela mandal of Mancherial district of Telangana due to persistent heavy rains. The ongoing downpour caused water to flow into the school building throwing normal life out of gear.

A total of 54 students were enrolled at the school in Mancherial. As rainwater poured through the dilapidated roof and walls, both students and teachers were forced to hold umbrellas to stay dry while continuing their lessons. Despite repair work amounting to Rs 2 lakh being carried out previously, it proved ineffective in addressing the structural issues.

The sight of students and teachers using umbrellas indoors highlighted the dire conditions they faced. The local community alongside the affected students called on officials and public representatives to take immediate action. They demanded not only repairs to the existing building but also the construction of a new, safer facility to ensure that the students' education was not compromised by such extreme conditions.

"This situation has become a curse for our children," said the parents, urging officials to address this urgently and provide a solution so that their kids could study in a safe and conducive environment.

The plight of these students underscored the urgent need for infrastructure improvements in educational institutions, particularly in areas prone to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, parts of Telangana continued to experience periods of rainfall on Tuesday. According to the IMD, light to moderate rains or thundershowers are expected to persist in the state until Monday (July 29). Specific locations including Adilabad, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kumurambheem Asifabad, Mahbubnagar, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts saw light to moderate rain and light thunderstorms on Tuesday, as reported by the IMD.
