The online application process for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 has begun online on the official SSC website - ssc.nic.in. Soon after releasing the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 Official Notification on December 6, 2022, the SSC opened the online application window for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022. 

Applications for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 are to be made online at ssc.nic.in, and the last date to apply is January 4, 2022. The SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 is scheduled to be held in February/ March 2023. Candidates are advised to carefully go through the official notification or check other SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 details here before applying.

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022

The Staff Selection Commission is conducting the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 to fill more than 4,500 ‘Group C’ vacancies in different Departments, Ministries, and Offices of the Government of India. The vacancies are to be filled for the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant and Data Entry Operators. 

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022: Selection Process

The selection process for the final shortlisting of candidates for the aforementioned 4,500+ candidates includes a two-stage written examination: Tier-1 and Tier-2, followed by Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-3). Candidates who qualify in the SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 will proceed to the final Tier-2 Examination and so on. Noteworthy is the fact that the central government scrapped the interview round for the recruitment of ‘Group C’ and non-gazetted ‘Group B’ posts. 

However, candidates taking up the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in Border Roads Organization (BRO) will have to pass the Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standards Test and Medical Standards Test, in addition to the written Exams. The detailed annexure of these tests is mentioned in the CHSL 2022 Official Notification. Also, only male candidates are eligible for the posts in BRO. Candidates should thoroughly go through the same before applying to avoid any discrepancy or confusion.

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022: Scheme of Written Examination

As per the official SSC CHSL Notification 2022, the SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 will be conducted sometime in February or March 2023. The final dates of the SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 and the schedule of the SSC CHSL Tier-2 Exam 2022 shall be notified soon by SSC. The dates for the Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-3) shall be released after the announcement of the Tier-2 exam results. The detailed scheme of SSC CHSL Exams 2022 is given below:

SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022

The SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 will be conducted in the CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. The exam paper will consist of a total of 100 multiple choice questions across four sections. There will be 25 questions in each of the four sections: English Knowledge, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. 

Each question in the paper will carry 2 marks for a correct answer, and for every wrong response, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks. Also, except for the English Knowledge section, the questions in the other three sections will be set in both Hindi and English languages.

SSC CHSL Tier-2 Exam 2022

The SSC CHSL Tier-2 Exam 2022 will be a descriptive paper conducted in the offline pen and paper mode. This descriptive paper will be designed to test the Essay/ Letter/ Application/Precis writing skills of the candidates. The maximum time limit to write the paper would be one hour. 

Candidates with scribes will be given an additional 20 minutes over the maximum time limit. The minimum qualifying marks required to clear the Tier-2 descriptive test is 33%. Candidates can also choose to write the test either in Hindi or English. Answer papers written partly in Hindi and partly in English will be awarded zero marks. 

SSC CHSL Tier-3 (Skill Test) Exam 2022

The SSC CHSL Tier-3 (Skill Test/ Typing Test), as the name suggests, is designed to test the skill test/ typing test of students as required for their respective posts. The skill test/ typing test will only be conducted in cities where the regional offices of the SSC are located. Moreover the tests will be conducted on computers provided by the Commission or its authorised agencies.

The skill test is a compulsory test for candidates opting for the post of Data Entry Operators (DEO). In the test, candidates will be given a printed matter containing around 2000 - 2200 key depressions, and the candidates would be required to enter the same on their computers. For qualifications, the test seeks a Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour, adjudged on the basis of correct entries of words/ key depressions in accordance with the given passage.

For qualifications for the post of Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), the skill test seeks a Data Entry Speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour, adjudged on the basis of correct entries of words/ key depressions in accordance with the given printed matter. The printed material in this case shall contain around 3700 - 4000 key depressions. 

Irrespective of the Office/ Department where the post of ‘Data Entry Operator’ is being applied for, candidates will be given a maximum time of 15 minutes to enter the printed material on their computers. Candidates with scribes will be given a compensational time of 5 minutes. 

SSC CHSL Tier-3 (Typing Test) Exam 2022

The Typing Test is a compulsory test for candidates opting for the posts of LDC/ JSA, and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant. Candidates can opt to take the typing test either in Hindi or English. However, the preference for the medium of the typing test needs to be indicated while filling the online application for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022. 

To qualify in the typing test, candidates will be required to have a typing speed of 35 words per minute in English, and 30 words per minute for those opting for the Hindi language. The typing test will be judged based on the candidate’s accuracy of typing the printed matter on the computer screen.

The maximum time allotted for the typing test will be 10 minutes. Candidates with scribes though, will be given an extra compensatory time of 5 minutes. Also, VH (Visually Handicapped) candidates who opt for scribe in their application form will be provided with a passage dictator. 

PwD candidates who claim to be permanently unfit to take the typing test will be exempted from appearing in the typing test subject to the prior approval of the Commission.

SSC CHSL Recruitment: Age Relaxation

As per the official SSC CHSL Notification 2022, the age limit for general category students interested in applying for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022 is 18 to 27 years. However, candidates from the reserved and certain unreserved categories do get some age relaxation as mentioned below. SSC CHSL Recruitment 2022: Syllabus of Exam

While the SSC CHSL Tier-2 and Tier-3 exams are more skill oriented, the Objective Tier-1 exam tests the comprehensive knowledge of candidates in four different subjects. It is essential for candidates to go through the syllabus of the exam and prepare for the exam accordingly. The tentative syllabus of the SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam 2022 is as follows:

English Language: Basic knowledge of English like - Fill in the blanks, Spot the error, Synonyms/Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, One word substitution, Active and Passive voice, Direct and Indirect Speeches, Sentence structuring, Detecting mis-spelt words, Shuffling of sentences, Passage comprehension

General Intelligence: Verbal and non-verbal questions based on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic Number Analogy, Symbolic Operations, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing Inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Numerical operations, and other related sub-topics. 

Quantitative Aptitude: Number Systems, Algebra, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Mensuration, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts. 

General Awareness: The questions in this section are meant to test the candidates awareness around ongoing/ recent events and the candidates observation about them. This section also features questions around the Indian Subcontinent, especially pertaining to History, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
