Andhra Pradesh Announces Reopening Of Schools From Nov 2; What Other States Have Decided

Unlike Andhra Pradesh, following the guidelines of “Unlock-5”, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim have also reopened the schools.

Schools Reopening News: Schools and Colleges will be opened in Andhra Pradesh from 2nd November, the Chief Minister's Office has stated. Reopening the schools in graded manner Classes for 9, 10, 11 and 12 will commence from 2 November while classes for 6, 7 and 8 will start from 23 November, Andhra CMO stated. Classes for 6, 7 & 8 will start from 23rd November. Classes will be held for half-day only & on alternate days only,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Office quoted "Classes will be held for half-day only and on alternate days only," it stated. According to the state government, 3,609 persons have recovered in last 24 hour taking the total recoveries to 7,81,509 while the state still has 26,622 active cases of coronavirus. Unlike Andhra Pradesh, following the guidelines of “Unlock-5”, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim have also reopened the schools. Uttar Pradesh: After remaining shut for over six months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools in Uttar Pradesh reopened for students of classes 9 to 12 from October 19th. As per state governments SOPs students will only be allowed to attend classes after furnishing written permission from their parents or guardians. Punjab: Schools outside containment zones reopened in Punjab for students of classes 9 to 12. As per the state government, the schools will open for three hours a day and only students of classes 9th to 12th will be called in school. No student of any other class will be called in the school. Sikkim: The Sikkim government had also given its nod to reopen all schools in the state from October 19 in a graded manner. Classes will be held six days a week this year, Bhim Thatal, a nodal officer of the education department’s public relations and publicity wing, said. All notified government holidays, however, will be in place, Thatal added. Delhi: Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said that all government and private schools will remain shut until further orders. While many states, including Delhi, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, have decided not to reopen schools.
