More About NEP 2020
The NEP 2020 was recently announced after it was approved by the Union Cabinet that was presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has taken 34 years to bring a new national educational policy after the one framed in 1986.
Among many decisions, the policy has proposed setting up a ''single overarching umbrella body for the entire higher education''.
Because of which, the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will be dissolved and The Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will take over
The HECI will have independent bodies, that will each serve separate functions of accreditation, funding, and academic standard setting.
The policy covered decisions regarding primary, secondary, senior secondary and higher education.
