On his Gujarat visit on Sunday, PM Modi also inaugurated the Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge, also known as ‘Sudarshan Setu’ in Dwarka.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 5 new AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) today, February 25, 2024. The five new AIIMS campuses inaugurated across the country are the first ever AIIMS in Gujarat - AIIMS Rajkot, AIIMS Mangalagiri, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Bathinda and AIIMS Rae Bareli. Notably, PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat where he is set to inaugurate several other developmental projects which are sought as a run-up to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections this year. 

On his Gujarat visit, PM Modi inaugurated key projects in the Dwarka and Rajkot districts. PM Modi also addressed a public gathering at Race Course ground in Rajkot. PM Modi inaugurated projects worth 48,000 crores out of which 35,700 crore are for Gujarat, while the remaining are for other states, as earl;ier stated by Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel. On his Gujarat visit, PM Modi also inaugurated the Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge, also known as ‘Sudarshan Setu’ in Dwarka on Sunday. 

"Spread across 201 acres, Rajkot AIIMS is a world-class hospital with 720 beds, including ICU and super-speciality beds. On February 25, the prime minister will inaugurate 23 operation theatres, 30-bed AYUSH block and 250 beds of IPD. The remaining beds will be made available gradually," Patel was earlier reported as saying by news agency PTI. 

Among the newly inaugurated AIIMS campuses, while all of them are already functional, PM Modi inaugurated the new campuses and new departments across these new AIIMS. The inauguration of new campuses of the premier medical sciences and research institute comes as a part of ‘Ayushman Bharat, Viksit Bharat’ scheme. 

Earlier on February 20 this year, PM Modi also inaugurated the AIIMS Jammu. On his Jammu visit earlier last week, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of key developmental projects in the region and also interacted with beneficiaries of central government schemes in the region.
