No Exams! All Telangana Class 10 Students To Be Promoted On The Basis Of Internals

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced the state government's decision to promote all Class 10 students without any examination. The reason cited by the government is that it is not feasible to have the 10th standard examinations due to the Covid-19 situation in the State. The final decision is to promote Class 10 students by grading them on the basis of their internal assessments. A high-level review meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday, to reach a decision on conducting SSC examinations considering the coronavirus spread in the state. The attendees included Education Minister Ms. Sabita Indrareddy, Special Chief Secretary (Education) Ms. Chitra Ramachandran, Chief Secretary Sri Somesh Kumar, CMO Principal Secretary Sri S Narsing Rao, Board of Secondary Education Director Sri Satyanarayana Reddy, CMO Special Secretary Sri Rajsekhar, OSD Sri Deshapathy Srinivas, Secretary Sri Bhoopal Reddy, and others. In Telangana, about 5,34,903 students are studying in the 10th standard - having to study six subjects and 11 papers. Out of the 11, three exams have already been conducted for two subjects. Back then, the exams were put on hold because of the orders of the High Court. A review meeting was held by the CM to reach a decision about conducting the pending exams. The members discussed preparations for the same and what can be done in the state regarding these exams. The government will decide about examinations for Post Graduate Courses by taking cognisance of the Covid-19 situation in the coming days.
