JU Bags 2nd Spot In State Public Universities, Drops Out Of Top 10 Engineering Colleges

In the NIRF 2024 rankings, Jadavpur University dropped to 9th in 'University' and 12th in Engineering, but earned 2nd place in the new 'State Public Universities' category with a score of 77.74.

In the NIRF 2024 rankings, Jadavpur University (JU) has experienced a significant shift. In the general 'University' category, Jadavpur University has slipped to 9th place from 4th position, with its score decreasing from 66.07 in 2023 to 65.39 in 2024. The university has also dropped out of the top 10 in the engineering category, falling from 10th place in 2023 to 12th place in 2024, with a score of 65.62—down 1.42% from the previous year.

However, Jadavpur University has achieved recognition in a new category introduced this year. In the newly established 'State Public Universities' category, which includes institutions funded by state governments, Jadavpur University has secured the second position with a score of 77.74.

On Monday, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan released the ninth edition of the NIRF rankings. IIT Madras topped the overall list, with IISc Bengaluru securing the second position and IIT Bombay coming in third. IIT Delhi, which held the third spot last year, has dropped to fourth place. The top ten includes eight IITs, along with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
