JEE Main 2025: What Actions Has NTA Taken To Avoid Cheating?

The candidate may be debarred for 3 years in the future and may also be liable for criminal action if found cheating just JEE Main 2025.

The National Testing Agency is conducting the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) 2025 Session 1 from Wednesday (January 22) onwards. The exams for Paper 1 (BE/BTech) are scheduled for January 22, 23, and 24, 2025, in two shifts. The first shift will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, while the second shift will run from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The exams for Paper 2A (BArch), Paper 2B (BPlanning), and the combined Paper 2A and 2B (BArch and BPlanning) will be conducted from January 28, 29, and 30, 2025. The first shift will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, while the second shift will be held from 3:00 am to either 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm, depending on the specific paper.

Lakhs of students are a part of the exams and they all have to follow certain rules to ensure avoiding unfair means practices. If a candidate indulges in any of the unfair practices, he/she will be booked under the UNFAIR MEANS (U.F.M.) case. The candidate may be debarred for 3 years in the future and may also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit.

According to an NDTV report, candidates involved in unfair practices during JEE (Main) - 2025 will be cancelled and not declared. Likewise, candidates appearing from a centre other than the one assigned to them or allowing someone else to take the exam on their behalf will have their results cancelled.

Any candidate appearing in multiple sessions will have their candidature cancelled, with no appeals entertained.

These are some of the things a candidate must avoid:

  1. Items including instrument or geometry, pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material, eatables and water, mobile phone, earphones, microphone, pager, calculator, DocuPen (a pen-sized, handheld scanner that can capture images of documents, articles), slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder and metallic item or electronic gadgets, devices are not allowed inside the JEE Main exam centre.
  2. Similarly, candidates must avoid wearing metallic elements like rings, bracelets or other jewellery. Shoes with thick soles are prohibited, likewise, any kind of should be avoided.
  3. Candidates must opt for simple, comfortable clothing.
  4. Breaching examination rules or any instructions issued by the NTA regarding the JEE (Main) - 2025 examination, at any point, will be considered a violation.
  5. Any candidate with more than one application number (more than one score cards) will be treated as UFM, even if found at a later stage, and strict action will be taken against that Candidate.
  6. Using someone to write an examination (impersonation) or preparing material for copying.
  7. Helping other students in engaging in malpractices, giving or receiving assistance of any kind directly or indirectly or attempting to do so.
  8. Threatening any of the authority figures connected with the conduct of the examination or threatening any of the candidates.  Forceful entry in /exit from Examination Centre/Hall.
  9. Not attempting the question paper for long time intervals. Fidgeting and looking here and there. Found in possession of bits of paper.
