The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the date sheet for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in December on its official website. The schedule for practical exams has already been announced: practical exams for most schools will begin on January 1, 2025, with theory exams following on February 15, 2025. In winter-bound regions, however, practical exams will be conducted earlier, from November 5 to December 5, 2024.
CBSE has specified that each subject will be marked out of 100, with points distributed across theory, practicals, projects, and internal assessments. This timeline offers students ample time to prepare for the theory exams starting on February 15, 2025. Sample question papers for Classes 10 and 12 are also available on the CBSE academic portal (cbseacademic.nic.in), helping students understand the marking scheme, question types, and exam format.

To facilitate the exam process for winter-bound schools that will be closed in January 2025, CBSE has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for conducting practical exams, project work, and internal assessments. The board has also provided a subject-wise breakdown of marks for Classes 10 and 12, urging schools to carefully follow this structure, as practical marks once submitted cannot be altered.
Additionally, CBSE has released a detailed list of subjects for each class, including subject codes, names, maximum marks for theory and practical components, project evaluations, internal assessments, and required answer booklets for theory exams. Schools are advised to refer to these guidelines to ensure a smooth examination process and prevent any errors.
