CBSE Board 12th Exam 2021: Lack Of Consensus In Meet As Delhi Govt Not In Favour Of Conducting Exams; Final Call On May 30
CBSE Board Exam 2021 Announced: Sources earlier reported that Class 12 exams are likely to be held only for particular subjects deemed most important and 19 subjects have been selected for the same in the meeting.
New Delhi: The high level meet with all the states/UT education ministers, secretaries and other officials to discuss pending Class 12 board exams has concluded. According to the sources, most of the states have agreed to conduct 12th board exams however the Delhi govt has opposed conducting exams amid the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
Sources aware of the insights from the meeting informed that the officials during the meeting proposed to conduct e-exams at home centres. The format of the exam is likely to be objective type. A password protected exam paper will be sent to the centres.
Due to a lack of consensus among states over the pending Class 12 board exams, the no decision could be taken today and hence, the final call will be taken on May 30.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the high-level meeting with Education Ministers of all states and union territories along with Education Secretaries and Chairpersons of State Examination Boards and stakeholders to discuss proposals for conduction of Class XII exams and entrance exams for professional courses. Besides Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Smriti Irani were present in the meeting along with chairpersons of state examination boards and stakeholders.
Post discussion, Delhi Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia in a Twitter post said, "In a meeting with the central government, today demanded that vaccine should be arranged for all the children of class 12 before the examination. The stubbornness of organizing the examination by playing with the safety of the children will prove to be a big mistake and a failure."
The meeting was held amid the growing demand by students of CBSE and ICSE to cancel the Class 12 board examinations 2021.
Besides Class 12 exams, the meeting also aimed to reach a decision on the conduct of entrance examinations for professional courses such as NEET 2021 and JEE Main 2021.

Everyone in the meeting agreed that it is very important to do conduct the exam because the future of students relies upon them, they added.
"Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education and CBSE are exploring options regarding the conduct of examinations, keeping in mind the safety and security of the students and the teachers. The Department of Higher Education is also deliberating upon the finalisation of the dates of examinations for institutions of higher learning," Pokhriyal had written in a letter to all states/UTs.
All state education boards, CBSE and ICSE postponed class 12 examinations this year in view of the Covid-19 situation. Even the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other national examinations have been postponed due to the outbreak.
