WATCH: AAP, BJP Supporters Engage In Verbal Spat During IP University's East Campus Inauguration

The supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday got involved in a verbal spat at the Indraprastha University's new campus in the national capital.

The supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday got involved in a verbal spat during the inauguration of the Indraprastha University's new campus in the national capital. Amidst the war of words betweeen the supporters, Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged them with folded hands to listen to him for five minutes. "With folded hands, I request you to please listen to me for 5 minutes", said Kejriwal as BJP and AAP supporters chanted slogans for their respective parties, as reported by the news agency ANI. "If you don't like what I will say than you can chant slogans later also," he added.

Kejriwal on Wednesday got emotional while remembering former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia during the inauguration programme of an education institution. Kejriwal said that Sisodia has been implicated in false cases and jailed because he was providing good schools and education in Delhi. He further said that if Sisodia had not worked for the people on education, he would not have been jailed.

The former Delhi deputy chief minister is currently in judicial custody in the case lodged by the ED. He was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case by the agency in March. The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected Sisodia's plea seeking interim bail for six weeks, but allowed him to meet his ailing wife.

The case in question relates to money laundering arising from the alleged excise policy scam. Sisodia had sought release on a temporary basis on the ground of being the only caretaker of his ailing wife. His plea for regular bail in the matter is pending before the high court.

The court observed that the allegations against the former Delhi health and excise minister are extremely serious in nature and that it cannot forget the positions held by him, Live Law reported. It also noted that the AAP leader might tamper with evidence or influence witnesses if released on bail.

Manish Sisodia has been granted permission to visit his residence or the hospital to meet his wife for one day at her convenience between 10 am and 5 pm after the AAP leader couldn't meet her on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.

“During this time, the petitioner shall not meet anyone except the wife and family members and shall not interact with the media. The commissioner of police is directed to ensure that there is no media gathering either outside the residence or hospital,” the court stated, as quoted by Live Law in its report.
