'Person Who Doesn't Think About Nation...': Congress Attacks Kejriwal Over Support Against Centre's Ordinance

Targeting the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Ajay Maken alleged that the former does not think about the nation and talks to Khalistani supporters.

The Congress party once again trained guns on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over support to the Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi government in opposing the services ordinance brought by the Centre. Targeting the AAP national convenor, Congress’s Ajay Maken alleged that Kejriwal does not think about the nation and talks to Khalistani supporters.

“How are they asking for Congress’ support? He (Arvind Kejriwal) with support of BJP passed a motion to take back Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna. He supported the BJP in the Jammu and Kashmir Article 370 issue. He supported BJP during the impeachment of Justice Deepak Mishra. A person who doesn’t think about the nation, talks to Khalistani supporters…” Maken told news agency ANI.

Another party leader Sandeep Dikshit, also came down heavily on Kejriwal saying, "The way in which Arvind Kejriwal has been running govt in Delhi is absolutely atrocious and thoroughly dishonest and corrupt."

"Congress can only stand with him if we betray both our tenets and our understanding of the Constitution. For the benefit of the people of Delhi, I request my party not to consider in any way supporting AAP," he added.

Last week, the Centre brought an ordinance to create a National Capital Civil Service Authority that will have the power to recommend the transfer and posting of all Group A officers and officers from Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Civil) Services (DANICS) serving in Delhi.

The ordinance came just a week after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Kejriwal dispensation over the issue.

Earlier also Congress spoke against Kejriwal over the issue saying Kejriwal should follow “Sheila Dikshit model of engaging with officers respectfully, holding dialogues with them rather than mistreating them, and persuading them to work for city's advancement.”

Meanwhile, Kejriwal is reaching out to the leaders of other Opposition parties to seek support against the ordinance in Rajya Sabha. Today, Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met his Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee who announced Trinamool Congress’ support against the ordinance.

Tomorrow, Wednesday he is scheduled to meet Uddhav Thackeray and then Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on May 25.

On Sunday, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar after a meeting with Kejriwal announced his support against the ordinance.
