Noida Authorities Appeal People To Evacuate Houses As Water Level Rises In Hindon River

The DCP said that the villages surrounding the river have been evacuated and there is no loss of life of any kind. 

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida appealed to people to evacuate their houses in the low-lying areas along the Hindon river as water level rose after water was discharged into it. "The water level of the Hindon River has increased due to which the people of the administration are present here. We are appealing to the people to vacate the house,” said Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Anil Yadav on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, a flood warning was issued by the authorities. 

The DCP said that the villages surrounding the river have been evacuated and there is no loss of life of any kind. 

“There is a dump yard of Ola company where old and damaged vehicles are kept. They were given 2 notices by the police administration to remove the vehicles...The surrounding villages have been evacuated. There is no loss of life of any kind..." Yadav told news agency ANI. 

A senior official on Tuesday told PTI that around 200 people from five villages have been evacuated and moved to shelter homes following the alert and the Hindon River is flowing below the danger mark of 205-metre in the Gautam Budh Nagar district.

"Around 200 people from five villages have been evacuated and shifted to shelter homes that have been set up by the administration to provide them accommodation, food and health care," Additional District Magistrate Atul Kumar told PTI. 

Earlier in the day, footage showed cars submerged deep in water near the Ecotech 3 area as the river swelled up. 

"The Hindon is currently flowing at 200-metre, below the danger mark of 205-metre," said Kumar who is also the nodal officer for flood relief work in Gautam Buddh Nagar. 

Located between Hindon and Yamuna rivers, the district recently witnessed floods along the Yamuna river banks. Rising waters have submerged 550 hectares of low-lying land and impacted thousands of people and animals.
