UP: SP Leader Accused Of Raping 18-Year-Old Woman For A Year, Blackmailing Her With Video Of Assault
Uttar Pradesh: The victim confirmed that the Samajwadi Party leader lured her into his car, drove to a secluded area, and gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives before forcibly raping her.
A local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh has been accused of repeatedly raping an 18-year-old woman and threatening her with death, police reported on Sunday. According to news agency PTI, the SHO of Kotwali Nagar police station in Mau, Anil Kumar Singh, stated that the accused Virendra Pal, who is also a lawyer, raped the woman for almost a year. Pal is currently on the run, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
The victim, who assisted Pal with his legal work, claimed that he lured her into his car, drove to a secluded area, and gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives before raping her. He reportedly filmed the assault and used the footage to blackmail her, continuing to sexually exploit her and extorting Rs 4 lakh, he added.
The woman also alleged that Pal last assaulted her at a hotel on July 16 and 17. When she confronted him on September 6 to retrieve her vehicle, he allegedly beat her, verbally abused her, and threatened to kill her.
