Man Booked In Thane For 'Circulating Private Video' Of Live-In Partner After Break-up

The accused has been identified as Kiran Bagrao, who was reportedly in a live-in relationship with the victim, a 47-year-old woman, from August 2022 to January 2024.

A 29-year-old man has been booked in Thane, Maharashtra, for allegedly sharing a private video of his ex-live-in partner on social media platforms after their break-up, PTI quoted a police official as saying. The accused has been identified as Kiran Bagrao, who was reportedly in a live-in relationship with the victim, a 47-year-old woman, from August 2022 to January 2024 at Dombivli and Majiwada.

Bagrao, who belongs to the district's Shahapur area, was booked based on a complaint lodged by the woman.

The victim, in her complaint, said she was in a live-in relationship with the accused. PTI quoted her as saying in her complaint that Bagrao had taken gold jewellery from her and once filmed her while she was taking a bath. When she refused to continue the live-in relationship and asked him to return her ornaments, he reportedly shared the video on social media. When the victim refused to meet the accused, he warned her of dire consequences and issued death threats to her, the woman alleged in her complaint, as reported by PTI.

The accused circulated the video on WhatsApp, the aforementioned police official told PTI.

Bagrao has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (uttering any word or making any gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and provisions of the IT Act, the official from Kapurbawdi police station of Wagle Estate division said.

Police are investigating the matter further.
