IMD Updates: Rains Lash Parts Of Delhi, More Showers Likely As 'Yellow Alert' Issued. Check Forecast

IMD has also issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rains for East and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh for Sunday.

Parts of Delhi received rainfall on Sunday and more showers are likely to occur as India Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning for the national capital, along with Haryana and Chandigarh. The rains led to waterlogging in some stretches and according to IMD, 2.9 mm rain was recorded in the last 24 hours.

The rainfall also brought the temperature down to 26 degrees Celsius while the maximum is likely to touch 32 degrees Celsius, as per the IMD.

Traffic on Rohtak Road and Najafagarh Firni Road was affected due to the rains.

"Traffic is affected on Rohtak Road in the carriageway from Nangloi towards Tikri Border due to potholes and waterlogging. Kindly avoid Mundka and take an alternate route accordingly," it posted on social media platform X.

Waterlogging and breakdown of three cluster buses near Chhawla Stand on Najafgarh road also affected the traffic.

IMD has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rains for East and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh for Sunday.

An 'orange' alert has been issued for Uttarakhand with 'very heavy' rainfall while a similar warning has been issued for East Rajasthan coupled with thunderstorms and lighting.

For West Rajasthan, the IMD has issued a 'yellow' warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls.

Forecast For The Next 4 Days

According to the India Meteorological Department, East Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive 'heavy rain' for all four days till Thursday, August 15. No warning has been issued for Monday and Tuesday for West Uttar Pradesh while a yellow alert has been raised for Wednesday and Thursday.

In Uttarakhand, the weather department has issued a yellow warning for all four days from Monday to Thursday.

There is now a warning for Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh for the next two days but heavy rains could lash the region on Wednesday. Skies are predicted to remain clear on August 15.

No warning for the next four days in Punjab while Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rains till Thursday.
