While the video of the Varanasi hospital revelry was shot before the Jhansi hospital fire, the video drew criticism over its ethical and concerns. When loud music and even honking are forbidden outside the hospital premises, the music and party on the premises drew flak for the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff. Four staff nurses were reportedly promoted before Diwali and the revelry was part of that celebration.
The video is going viral at a time when the Jhansi fire tragedy, which claimed the lives of 10 infants, is under intense scrutiny. Allegations of negligence have surfaced after the blaze gutted the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
While the UP government has ordered an investigation, the Congress has blamed the Yogi Adityanath government for negligence. Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai said: "Several such incidents have occurred in Uttar Pradesh. This happened in Varanasi, too. This government is ordering only investigations."
