Guess Which 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' Actor Funded Poorna Jagannathan's Play 'Nirbhaya'
Actress Poorna Jagannathan opened up about the generous support she received from a 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' co-star.

Indian-American actress Poorna Jagannathan has made a touching disclosure about the important role her co-star from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ played in the success of her play ‘Nirbhaya’. Poorna recently stated in an interview that Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor was the first investor in her play, back in 2013.
Poorna recently spoke about the strong connection she had with Ranbir in an interview with ANI, drawing attention to his kindness and the strong friendship they had while filming. She said, "I loved working with Ayan and Ranbir. It was such a privilege. It was such a gift...Right after I did Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani, I went and produced my own play called Nirbhaya. And Ranbir was its first investor. He was the first one who gave me money to get this play kicked off. And we toured that, we ended up touring that play globally for three years."
She continued, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was an important movie for me to be part of because of my friendship with Ranbir and his generosity, my friendship with Ayaan. It had a significant impact on my life. It was an iconic movie."

About ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’
Poorna portrayed Riana Sarai, a tour guide who assists Ranbir's character, Bunny, in securing his dream job, in the Ayan Mukerji–directed film. With its universal themes of love, friendship and self-discovery, the coming-of-age romance drama 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' resonated deeply with viewers, particularly the younger generation. The film's stellar cast included Kalki Koechlin, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The film was re-released in the theatres in January 2025.
Poorna, meantime, is getting a lot of acclaim for her part in the Pakistani-American brothers' journey through their father's shadowy business in the comic series 'Deli Boys'.
