Gas Cylinder Found On Uttarakhand's Roorkee-Luxor Railway Tracks, No Trains Affected

Haridwar Superintendent of Police (Rural) Swapan Kishore informed that a small three-kilogram cylinder was found in the middle of the track leading to Roorkee.

A gas cylinder was found on the tracks of the Roorkee-Luxor railway route on Saturday. The guard of a BCN goods train noticed the cylinder on the second railway line near Dhandhera railway station around 6:45 am on Saturday, police said.

Laksar GRP in-charge Sanjay Sharma said no trains were scheduled to travel on the route at the time of the incident, as per PTI.

"At 06:35, the loco pilot of a goods train (BCNHL/32849) informed the Station Master at Roorkee (RK) that a cylinder was found on the track between Landaura (LDR) and Dhandhera (DNRA) at km 1553/01. The spot is about one KM from DNRA station. Pointsman immediately reached the spot and found the cylinder to be completely empty. It was later placed under the custody of the Station Master at Dhandhera. Local Police and GRP have been informed. An FIR is being registered in local PS - Civil Lines, Roorkee," Himanshu Upadhyay, CPRO of Northern Railway told ANI.

According to PTI, Haridwar Superintendent of Police (Rural) Swapan Kishore informed that a small three-kilogram cylinder was found in the middle of the track leading to Roorkee. Upon receiving the information, teams from the RPF and police arrived at the scene and secured the cylinder, which was empty.

Kishore stated that a case has been filed against unidentified individuals under sections of The Railways Act at Roorkee Civil Line Police Station, and the matter is under investigation.

LPG Cylinder Found On Rail Tracks Near UP's Prempur Station

A similar incident was reported on September 22 near Uttar Pradesh's Prempur station where the loco-pilot of a goods train applied emergency brakes after he spotted a gas cylinder on railway tracks.

"A goods train going from Kanpur towards Prayagraj was stopped using the emergency brakes after the driver spotted a gas cylinder lying on the tracks, at Prempur Station at 5:50 am today (September 22). Railway IOW (Inspector of work), security and other teams examined the cylinder and removed it from the tracks. Upon inspection, it was found that the 5-litre cylinder was empty. Directions have been given to investigate the matter," said CPRO, North Central Railway, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier this month, another major accident was also averted after the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express collided with an LPG cylinder placed on the railway tracks.
