Akhilesh Yadav Claims ‘Shivling’ Beneath UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s Residence, Calls For Excavation — WATCH
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav claims the presence of a "Shivling" at the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's official residence and calls for its excavation.
Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming about the existence of a "Shivling" at the CM's official residence. Akhilesh, while speaking on the issue in Lucknow, said, “Since this excavation work has begun, I am reminded of something people had mentioned earlier. I didn’t take it seriously at the time… there is a Shivling at the Chief Minister’s residence, and it too should be excavated.”
Almost bursting into laughter, he added, “Honestly, we believe there is a Shivling there, and for its excavation, all of us should contribute. I will even tell my journalist friends to lead the way, and we will follow behind them because I won’t let you turn back.”
Yadav also took a swipe at the Uttar Pradesh government’s Udhyam Pradesh project and its ambitious "land bank" target of 1.5 lakh acres saying, "Government does not have the lands...Do they want to ruin farmers?"

The Sambhal area witnessed tensions after a recent survey of a Mughal-era mosque sparked violent clashes, resulting in the deaths of four people last month. The violence erupted after protesters clashed with security personnel during the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid. Protesters set vehicles on fire and threw stones at the police, who responded with tear gas and batons. Around 20 security personnel were injured during the clashes, and several people were detained in connection with the incident.
In another update from Sambhal, officials from the Chandausi municipality said that nearby encroachments would be cleared to expose an ancient stepwell. Krishna Kumar Sonkar, the executive officer of the Chandausi municipality, confirmed that excavation work had been ongoing for eight days. "We kept digging the stairs and the sides, but we’ve now found a well at the centre of the road premises. It appears that the structure surrounds this well," Sonkar told reporters, as quoted by news agency PTI.
Sonkar further explained that the encroachments by buildings near the well would be cleared as the structure holds archaeological significance. "No one has the right to encroach upon an archaeological relic or carry out construction activities over it," he said. The excavation is being done manually with the help of shovels and spades to avoid damaging the structure, with the ASI closely monitoring the progress.
