Eye On Easing Congestion, UP’s Yogi Adityanath Govt Plans Over 100 Roads In Lucknow & Varanasi
UP government to build more than 100 roads in Lucknow & Varanasi under 2025-26 Rapid Economic Development Scheme to ease traffic & boost connectivity.

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to enhance the road infrastructure in Lucknow and Varanasi by building more than 100 roads. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a comprehensive plan has been made to construct the roads in these key cities.
The project will be implemented as part of the Rapid Economic Development Scheme during the 2025-26 fiscal year.
These roads are meant to avoid traffic congestion and enhance connectivity. The District Magistrates of Lucknow and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi have been assigned the responsibility through formal communication.
The Rural Engineering Department has been entrusted with the execution of the road construction project. The initiative will involve the extensive development of cement concrete (CC) roads, interlocking roads, and comprehensive drainage systems on a large scale.
Once the cities receive environmental clearance for construction work and other statutory approvals, 77 new roads will be constructed in Varanasi, while 25 will be built in Lucknow. The scheme includes areas such as Bakshi Ka Talab, Malihabad, and Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow. In Varanasi, construction will be carried out in areas including Pindra, Narayanpur, Sarnath, and Sarasoli Ward.

Finances For The Construction
Through this initiative, the UP government wants to tackle traffic congestion and waterlogging in urban areas. The new roads are expected to enhance connectivity and provide a boost to ongoing and future development activities.
The scheme will prioritise the use of modern construction technologies and advanced drainage systems. The government hopes to complete all construction work on time and meet high-quality standards.
Financial backing for this initiative is being arranged under the Accelerated Economic Development Scheme. The scheme to deliver improved road infrastructure, a cleaner environment, and significant relief from traffic for the residents of Lucknow and Varanasi. Moreover, it is expected to bolster the local economy and upgrade the overall infrastructure in both cities.
