UP Weather: Monsoon Picks Up Pace In Uttar Pradesh; Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms On IMD Forecast

UP Weather News: A rain alert has been issued for several districts today. Intense rainfall is expected from June 26, bringing relief from the heat.

Rainfall continues to lash various parts of Uttar Pradesh, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. On Monday, several regions across the state witnessed light to moderate showers, while some areas were drenched by heavy downpours. The cooling effect of the rain has led to a noticeable dip in temperatures in many parts, though places like Noida and Ghaziabad are still grappling with hot and humid conditions.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain is expected to intensify starting today, June 24. Widespread rainfall is likely to drench most parts of the state in the coming days, continuing until June 29. However, the forecast suggests that there won’t be any significant change in maximum or minimum temperatures despite the showers.

Both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh are in for stormy weather. On Tuesday, several areas are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. The IMD has also issued a lightning alert, urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.

Rain Alert Issued In 16 Districts

A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 16 districts, including Agra, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Kushinagar. Starting June 26, western UP is expected to see an even more intense spell of rain, with many regions bracing for heavy showers over the next six days.

As the monsoon gains momentum, the risk of lightning strikes also increases. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and heavy rain in districts such as Agra, Firozabad, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Kushinagar. Meanwhile, isolated showers are expected in Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Bijnor, Meerut, and Ghaziabad.

Today, rain is also likely in several areas across Noida, Hapur, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau, Azamgarh, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Basti, and Gonda.

While the rain has brought welcome relief from the heat, residents should remain alert, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has advised caution and preparedness, as the weather remains unpredictable through the rest of the week.
