UP Professor Accused Of Raping 8 Students Arrested After 72-Hour Manhunt In Prayagraj
Sources revealed that Rajnish Kumar also took bribes from students and their parents in exchange for better exam scores and job placements, using these opportunities to coerce sexual favours.

A 50-year-old Geography professor accused of sexually abusing eight students has been arrested in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The accused identified as Rajnish Kumar, the Chief Proctor of the Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College in Hathras, has reportedly filmed acts and used all 59 captured videos in order to blackmail them into silence and perform further sexual favours.
He has been absconding and got arrested after 72 hours following the allegations that surfaced earlier this week, along with horrific videos of sexually assaulting students, which later were shared with the police on a USB flash or pen, drive.
According to a report by NDTV, police sources indicated that claimed about the number of sexual abuse by Rajnish Kumar against women is still unknown.
He clarified that Kumar only started recording his assaults a few years ago, after a webcam accidentally captured footage of a student being molested, suggesting that many more women may have been victims of rape.
Sources revealed that Kumar also took bribes from students and their parents in exchange for better exam scores and job placements, using these opportunities to coerce sexual favours.
During police interrogation, Kumar admitted that in 2009, he was involved in a sexual relationship (allegedly consensual) with a student. On one occasion, while they were intimate, a computer’s webcam inadvertently recorded them.
Police Recover More Than 65 Explicit Videos
He claimed that this incident sparked the idea to secretly record sexual assaults and use the footage for blackmail. According to Chiranjeev Nath Sinha, the Superintendent of Police in Hathras, Kumar later installed specialized software on his computer to systematically record his crimes.
Police reports indicate that Kumar was previously married in 1996, though the current status of that marriage remains unclear. The couple reportedly had no children. He was appointed as a teacher at Bagla College in 2001 and was promoted to Chief Proctor last year.
His pattern of sexual abuse reportedly began in 2008. Authorities have recovered more than 65 explicit videos from his mobile phone, some of which were allegedly uploaded to pornographic websites.
