Recognition Of 5 More Prayagraj Madrasas To Be Revoked In After Fake Currency Racket Bust In UP

In Prayagraj, following the discovery of a fake currency operation in a madrasa, the government has revoked the recognition of five madrasas and sent applications to revoke the recognition of 15 more.

Prayagraj News: Following the busting of a fake currency manufacturing unit at the Jamia Habibia Madrasa in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, the government is taking quick action to curb the menace. In this case, the recognition of five madrasas operating in Prayagraj has been cancelled. Applications have also been sent to revoke the recognition of 15 other madrasas. The recognition of Madrasa Sirajul Uloom Mendara, Madrasa Ibrarul Uloom Purwa Khas, Madrasa Ayesha Islamia Anapur, Madrasa Darul Uloom Amilia and Madrasa Faizane Raza Meja has been revoked.

However, all of them had applied for the revocation of recognition themselves. The number of madrasas in Prayagraj has been steadily declining over the last few years, said District Minority Welfare Officer Krishna Murari. The police had earlier raided a madrasa on August 28 and busted a fake currency production unit. During a raid by cops, objectionable literature was also seized from the madrasa. A book written in Urdu in the madrasa described the RSS as the biggest terrorist organisation in the country. This madrasa was operating without the recognition of the UP Madrasa Board.

As many as 105 children from different states were studying at the madrasa operating in the Atarsuya area of Prayagraj. The madrasa cost around Rs 3.5 to Rs 4 lakh per month to operate. Investigating agencies are trying to find out if the madrasa was getting foreign funding.

The investigators are also trying to trace the donors and the amount received from them. The madrasa's terrorist connections, if any, are also being probed.

The acting principal of the madrasa, Maulvi Maulana Tafsirul Arifeen, is alleged to be the mastermind behind the fake currency production racket. Three others have been arrested and sent to jail.

513 Madrasas In UP To Be Derecognised

The affiliation of 513 madrasas will be cancelled soon, the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madrasa Education decided on Wednesday. The primary reason for their deaffiliation is their failure to upload crucial details on the Board's portal. A few applied for the deaffiliation for various reasons. Around 16,000 madrasas are currently affiliated with the UP madrasa education board, while another 9,000 (approximately) are not recognised by the UPBME.

Minister of State for Minority Welfare, Muslim Waqf, and Haj Danish Azad Ansari said the derecognition of the madrasas would help in improving the quality of education at other institutions. He said, "The Yogi Adityanath government has always worked to improve madrasa education. The government is continuously advancing in a proactive manner to enhance madrasa education."
