UP's Bahraich Deals With Leopard Attacks A Year After Wolf Terror: VIDEO

Leopard attack video: Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh faces ongoing man-animal conflicts, with a recent leopard attack leaving six people injured.

The man-animal conflict in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich doesn't seem to be ending. In August-September last year, several villages in Bahraich were plagued by wolf attacks. The terror later spread to Kanpur as well. Now, Bahraich is having to deal with leopards.

In the latest leopard attack, the big cat entered a village between Sujauli and Karikot Villages under the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division. The leopard attacked and injured at least six people. A video of the incident is now going viral.

The conflict sparked panic among the villagers as well as in the leopard, which was confused by the commotion. Locals later managed to drive it away into the forest by making loud noises.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Wolf Attacks In Bahraich

Between March and September 2024, a series of wolf attacks in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, India, resulted in at least 10 deaths and nearly 40 injuries. The attacks, suspected to be carried out by a pack of six wolves, prompted the Government of Uttar Pradesh to launch "Operation Bhediya" to capture the animals. By September, five wolves had been captured.

The attacks occurred primarily in the Mahasi Tehsil area, affecting approximately 50 villages along the Ghaghara River. Victims were often attacked at night while sleeping. Authorities provided financial aid to the affected families and increased security measures, including deploying patrols and installing solar streetlights.
