Over the past month, Bahraich has seen a series of wolf attacks, with over 10 people, including nine children, being mauled to death by canines. Around 37 others have been reportedly injured due to wolf attacks in the area as well.

In the latest attack, a 50-year-old woman named Pushpa Devi was injured on Wednesday night. According to her husband, Pratap, the wolf attacked her around 10-10:30 pm while she was sleeping. "She was attacked on her neck so she couldn't make noise at first but she pushed it away and in that gap, she screamed. That's when we woke up and saw her bleeding," he told news agency ANI.

Pushpa Devi's son-in-law Dinesh told the news agency that the wolf entered the house as one of the children might have opened the door.

Earlier on Wednesday, two more children were attacked by the wolf in Bahraich. The children, both 11, were sleeping when they were attacked, according to a report by India Today

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh forest department, under 'Operation Bhediya',  has captured five out of the pack of six wolves who terrorised the residents in Bahraich. As per officials, a lone male wolf is left to be captured in the region. The forest department has formed several teams to patrol the areas at night.
