Travel In UP Roadways AC Buses To Become Costlier As Fare Hiked By 10%: Check Details
With the increased fares, a passenger paying Rs 100 for a ride on an AC bus of UP roadways, will now have to pay Rs 110 for the same distance.

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has increased the fare of AC buses by ten percent, thereby making travelling in UP roadways costlier this summer season. The fares have been hiked in view of rising operational costs and fuel prices, and will be effective from May 1.
With the increased fares, a passenger paying Rs 100 for a ride on an AC bus, will now have to pay Rs 110 for the same distance. The increased fare will apply to all AC buses including Janrath, Shatabdi, Scania, and Volvo bus services.
BEST Gets Approval For Bus Fare Hike
Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has got the approval of the its parent body BMC, for a proposed hike in bus fares.
"Cash-strapped BEST seeks to double the minimum fare for initial distance of 5 km, besides removal of the cap of maximum fare of Rs 20 and Rs 25 in case of non-AC and AC buses, respectively, beyond 20 km distance," news agency PTI reported, citing an official.
According to the proposal, BEST wants the minimum fare to be Rs 10 and for non-AC buses and Rs 12 for AC buses from the current Rs 5 and Rs 6, respectively. The official said that Bhushan Gagrani, BMC commissioner-cum-administrator, has approved the proposed fare hike by BEST. The proposal will now go for approval to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) for final approval.
Explaining the procedure, he further stated that the proposal must first mandatorily get the approval of the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation.
