Traffic Advisory Issued In Delhi For Muharram Procession, Avoid These Routes
Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory for Muharram processions on July 6. Major routes, including Old Delhi, Connaught Place, and Aurobindo Marg, will be affected by diversions and closures.

Large-scale Tazia processions will be held across Delhi on Muharram on Sunday, July 6, and thousands of people are expected to take to the streets. In anticipation, the Delhi Police has gone on high alert, putting in place extensive security and traffic management plans.
To maintain smooth vehicular flow, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a detailed traffic advisory, listing major routes through which processions will pass. The public is urged to check the advisory before planning any travel on July 6 and arrange their commute accordingly.
Multiple Routes Affected In Delhi
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, the main Tazia procession will move from Old Delhi through Connaught Place and Aurobindo Marg to Karbala. Several other smaller processions will also emerge from different parts of the capital, likely disrupting traffic along numerous stretches.
The police have warned that traffic will be diverted on several roads and some routes may be completely closed to ensure the safe passage of the processions. Commuters, especially those heading to work or for urgent errands, are advised to allow extra travel time.
The main procession will pass through Chitli Qabar, Churi Walan, Matia Mahal, Jama Masjid, Chawri Bazar, and Hauz Qazi, and return via the same route. Another significant procession will move through Old Police Post, Ashok Basti, Qutub Road, Khari Baoli, Lal Kuan, Hauz Qazi, Chawri Bazar, and Jama Masjid.
Strict Security Measures; Drone & CCTV Surveillance
To maintain law and order, Delhi Police has deployed heavy security, along with drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring of the processions to handle any untoward incidents swiftly.
Police have appealed to the public to avoid procession routes, follow traffic regulations, and plan their journeys in advance to ensure minimal disruption and inconvenience to everyone.
