Terrorist Hideout Busted In North Kashmir’s Kupwara; Major Cache Of Arms And Ammunition Recovered
Security forces busted a terrorist hideout in Machil sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.
In a significant breakthrough, security forces on Saturday busted a terrorist hideout in the Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered a major cache of arms and ammunition, officials said. According to officials, acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp Machil and the Indian Army’s 12 SIKHLI unit in the forested area of Sedori Nala, Mushtaqabad Machil (Samsha Behak forest region), under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kupwara and Police Post Machil.
During the operation, the forces successfully located and busted a terrorist hideout. The recovery from the site included five AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, one pistol, one pistol magazine, 660 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, one pistol round, and 50 rounds of M4 ammunition.
Officials said the recovery was a major success, particularly in light of indications suggesting that terrorists were preparing to carry out activities aimed at disturbing peace and order in the region. “The timely action by the security forces has dealt a major blow to such nefarious designs and has averted potential threats to civilian lives and public safety,” they stated.
Authorities emphasised that the operation underscored the firm resolve and close coordination of security forces in maintaining peace and thwarting the evil intentions of anti-national elements. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Medical Superintendent Of GMC Jammu Attached, Day After Issuing Circular Asking Staff To Be Alert Amid Border Tension
Meanwhile, in a separate development in Jammu, the government has ordered administrative changes following a controversial circular related to “border tension”.
On Saturday, Dr. Narinder Bhutyal, In-Charge Medical Superintendent of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, was repatriated and attached to the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, for further duties. The move came a day after he issued a circular asking GMC Jammu staff to remain alert and ready to meet any exigency amid “border tension”, which was subsequently withdrawn by the Principal/Dean of GMC Jammu, officials said.
An order issued by the government (Order No. 329-JK(HME) of 2025) stated, “Dr. Narinder Bhutyal, I/C Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College, Jammu is repatriated forthwith and attached in the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu for further duties.”
Further, Dr. Varinder Trisal, In-Charge Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ramban, has been deputed to Government Medical College, Jammu, on standard terms and conditions of deputation, according to the order. “He shall also look after the charge of Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College, Hospital Jammu,” it said.
Additionally, Dr. Sudershan Singh Katoch, a Medical Officer presently on deputation to Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (J&KMSCL), has been repatriated and posted in District Hospital Ramban. “He shall also temporarily look after the charge of Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Ramban,” the order read, adding that “the officials shall be deemed to have been relieved forthwith.”
