Nagarjuna Files Defamation Case Against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha Over Chay-Sam Claim
The defamation case comes as Telangana Minister Surekha apologised and withdrew her comments, stating it was never her intention to target anyone personally.
Veteran actor Nagarjuna has taken legal action against Telangana Minister and Congress leader Konda Surekha following her controversial remarks linking BRS leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) to the divorce of his son, actor Naga Chaitanya, and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. A copy of defamation complaint was shared on social media by Naga Chaitanya.
According to ANI, the complainant, Nagarjuna, submitted that the accused, using her platform as a public figure, made defamatory remarks about him and his family while speaking to the media on 02.10.2024 during the Gandhi Jayanti program.

The issue arose after Minister Konda Surekha made comments about the high-profile divorce during a media interaction. She later explained that she had brought up the actors' names while responding emotionally to remarks made by KTR. Surekha, however, apologised and withdrew her comments, stating it was never her intention to target anyone personally.
Both Samantha and Chaitanya reacted strongly. Samantha addressed the issue on her Instagram Story, stating that there was "no political conspiracy" behind their separation, which was announced in 2021. Chaitanya echoed this sentiment on his social media, describing their divorce as "one of the most painful and unfortunate decisions" of his life. He called Surekha's allegations "ridiculous."
Chaitanya said: "It was a decision made in peace, owing to our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults. However, there have been various baseless and completely ridiculous gossips on the matter so far."
Several prominent figures from the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Junior NTR, Venkatesh, Prakash Raj, Amala, Vijay Devarakonda and Khushbu, condemned the minister's remarks. In response to the growing controversy, the Telangana Congress urged the film industry to let the matter rest, as Surekha had already retracted her statements.
