8 Cars Gutted As Fire Breaks Out In Container On Hyderabad-Mumbai Highway, Driver Injured

A container transporting multiple cars caught fire on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway on Sunday, disrupting traffic flow. Footage showed bright orange flames consuming the container, with thick grey-white smoke rising from the vehicle.

In the video, eight burnt-out cars were seen on the container. Despite their efforts, the fire brigade found it challenging to control the intense flames. All the cars were completely destroyed in the incident. The container driver sustained burns on 20 per cent of his body and was taken to a hospital, according to PTI.

The truck, traveling from Mumbai to Hyderabad, caught fire in Ranjol on the Zaheerabad bypass road in Sangareddy district.

As per the report by NDTV, a preliminary investigation by police noted that a short-circuit may have triggered the fire. The incident triggered a traffic jam on the highway, with many vehicles halted as emergency crews worked to clear the area and ensure safety for drivers.

Sleeper Coach Of Unchahar Express Catches Fire Near Etawah

In a separate incident, a sleeper coach of the Delhi-Prayagraj Unchahar Express (14218) caught fire on Sunday. The passengers travelling in the train informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) who made the train halt near Farukkabad railway crossing.

Later, the train resumed its journey after the fire was doused with the help of onboard fire extinguishers. From the investigation, it has been revealed that the source of the fire was a packet of matchsticks in the luggage of one of the passengers, Anil Kumar (45), a resident of village Naya Purva Bhadri in the Hadgawan police station area of ​​Pratapgarh. He is employed in Surya Nagar near Hisar bypass of the Rohtak district of Haryana.

According to a report by ETV Bharat, Anil informed the GRP officials that he was travelling in the middle berth of the S4 coach of the train. While getting down, matchsticks accidentally fell on the bag which ignited the firesticks due to the friction. Soon smoke broke out between seats 49 and 53.

The GRP personnel escorted Kumar to Ikdil station. He has been charged under the Railways Act, with a case filed at the Railway Protection Force post in Etawah.
