Shraddha Walkar's Father, Suffering Depression Over Daughter's Brutal Murder, Dies Of Heart Attack

Shraddha Walkar's father, Vikas Walkar, died of a heart attack, three years after his daughter's brutal murder by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala.

Shraddha Walkar, who was murdered in cold blood by his live-in partner three years ago, her father Vikas Walkar has died of a heart attack in Mumbai. According to reports, Vikas was suffering from depression after the murder of his daughter. 

Shraddha was killed by her live-in partner, Aftab Poonawala on May 18, 2022, at their flat in Delhi's Mehrauli. He then cut the corpse into 35 pieces and stored them in a refrigerator that he bought for the purpose and disposed of them in different parts of the city. 

Many of the body parts were found later in a forest near the accused's house. He was arrested in connection with the crime on November 12, 2022. 

Three years on, Shraddha's father was still waiting for her daughter's ashes so that he could perform the last rites properly.

Vikas was living with his son in Vasai where his health suddenly deteriorated in the early hours of Sunday. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead, reported News 18. 

The Vasai police have ordered a post-mortem saying Vikas "apparently died of cardiac arrest." 

The sensational murder case came to light after the victim's father filed a missing person's report as he was not able to trace his daughter for nearly two and a half months. 

In August 2023, Vikas testified in a Delhi court that Poonawala confessed to killing Shraddha. The father said that Poonawala told him that he had "strangled" Shradda with "his own hands." 

Vikas further testified that Poonawala said he bought a saw after strangling her chopped off her wrist and put those in a trash bag, as per a PTI report. 

Before entering a relationship with Poonawala, Shraddha lived with her father and brother. Her mother had passed away in 2020. 

Shraddha introduced her boyfriend to her family in Mumbai for the first time after her mother's death. Her family opposed her live-in relationship in 2019 after which she said she, being 25 years old, was capable of making her own decisions.
