Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan Chowk Renamed After Birsa Munda On Tribal Leader's Birth Anniversary
Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan Chowk has been renamed Birsa Munda Chowk to honor the tribal leader on his 150th birth anniversary.
The Sarai Kale Khan Chowk in Delhi has been renamed after Birsa Munda on the tribal leader's 150th birth anniversary on Friday, announced Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar.
"I am announcing today that the big chowk outside the ISBT bus stand here will be known after Bhagwan Birsa Munda," Khattar said in the national capital on Friday.
"Seeing this statue and the name of that chowk, not only the citizens of Delhi but also the people visiting the International Bus stand will definitely be inspired by his life," he added.

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other political leaders paid their tributes to the tribal activist on his birth anniversary.
"His aspirations – freedom, justice, identity and dignity – inspire the youth of our country," said President Murmu in a statement.
"Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji sacrificed everything to protect the pride and dignity of the motherland. I pay my heartfelt tribute to him on the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary, Tribal Pride Day," Modi said in a post on X.
He also unveiled a commemorative coin and postal stamp in honour of the tribal leader.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a statue of Birsa Munda in the national capital and hailed his contribution to societal reforms and the courage to stand against "religious conversion."
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion.
"Hearty congratulations, best wishes and Johar to everyone on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Jharkhand State Foundation Day," said the CM in a post on X.
"Our aim is to create the Jharkhand of the dreams of the immortal martyrs and revolutionaries, and we will accomplish it together," he added.
