Saif Ali Khan was attacked and stabbed six times at his Mumbai residence during the early hours of Thursday. The Bollywood actor is currently undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable. Three individuals have been rounded up by the Mumbai police for questioning in connection with the incident.

According to the police’s preliminary theory, it is suspected that the assailant entered the premises intending to meet the maid. An altercation reportedly broke out between them, during which the individual attempted to assault the maid. The 'Hum Tum' actor sustained injuries while trying to intervene, officials said. Initial findings suggest that the maid may have allowed the assailant into the residence.

Mumbai Police has formed seven teams to look at every possible angle on this stabbing incident.

Security Lapse At Mumbai's Posh Society Raises Question

After the incident, serious concerns were raised regarding the security lapse in the supposedly well-guarded Satguru Sharan society in Bandra. The actor resides on the 12th floor, and entry to the building requires passing through multiple security checkpoints, including approval from the resident’s household. Despite these measures and the presence of CCTV surveillance, the assailant reportedly faced no resistance while entering the Omkara actor's residence and managed to escape as well after the scuffle.

Mumbai police are also preparing to question the maid, who is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

While police suspect it may have been an inside job, Kareena Kapoor, Saif’s wife, issued a statement describing the incident as a “burglary" gone wrong.

"There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police are already doing their investigation," the statement from Kareena Kapoor's team mentioned.
