Right-Wing Mob Waves Saffron Flag Atop Dargah Dome In Prayagraj On Ram Navami: Watch

A mob of right-wing group climbed on the Salar Masood Ghazi Miyan dargah in Prayagraj, raising slogans and waving saffron flags on Ram Navami.

Right-wing groups created a ruckus on the occasion of Ram Navami in Prayagraj on Sunday by climbing on the dargah of Salar Masood Ghazi Miyan in the Sikandra area.

The men carrying saffron flags climbed on the roof of the shrine, located in the Ganganagar zone of Prayagraj on Sunday afternoon, reported NDTV.

The mob raised slogans and waved flags near the dome of the dargah. The video of the incident, uploaded on social media, has since gone viral. In the video, three men were seen carrying saffron flags and reaching the dome, while dozens gathered below raising slogans.

The men had reached the shrine on bikes and had fled the spot before police arrived.

Demand To Demolish Dargah

The right-wing group is led by Mahendra Pratap Singh who has described himself as a student leader at Allahabad University and former state president of Karni Sena. He has also mentioned in his Facebook profile that he is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Uploading the video in a Facebook post, Singh claimed that Salar Masood Ghazi was an invader and that his dargah should not be there in the pilgrim city of Prayagraj. He also demanded that his shrine be demolished immediately.

Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said some miscreants waved saffron flags and raised slogans at the shrine, reported PTI.

He said departmental action is being taken against the policemen who were responsible for maintaining order on the spot.

The DCP said that there are five shrines at the Ghazi Miyan Ki Dargah where Hindus and Muslim devotees come to offer 'chadar'. He further said that legal action will be taken after probing the matter.
