PM Modi Offers Prayer At Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple During Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival: Watch
He's set to commemorate 1,000 years of the Chola's Southeast Asian maritime expedition, launching temple restoration and unveiling a commemorative coin honoring the emperor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday participated in the celebration of the birth anniversary of Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I with the Aadi Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival at Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple. He offered prayers at Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple and met with the priests at the religious site.
He is scheduled to participate in a grand public event commemorating 1,000 years since the maritime expedition of Rajendra Chola I to Southeast Asia. The event also marks the launch of restoration and construction work at the iconic temple site.

According to an official release, the Prime Minister will also unveil a commemorative coin in honour of Rajendra Chola I, regarded as one of India’s most powerful and visionary emperors. The coin launch will coincide with the celebrations of the Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival, a significant cultural occasion in Tamil Nadu.
PM Modi Holds Roadshow
On the final leg of his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, Modi held a vibrant roadshow in Tiruchirappalli on Sunday, drawing large crowds and enthusiastic public participation along the route.
Locals lined the streets to greet the Prime Minister as his convoy made its way through the city, with police deploying heightened security measures to ensure smooth proceedings.
On Saturday, PM Modi was in Thoothukudi, where he laid the foundation stone, inaugurated, and dedicated to the nation various development projects worth over ₹4,800 crore, spanning sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and connectivity.
