Odisha Horror: 2 Brothers Rape Minor, Try To Bury Her Alive After She Gets Pregnant; Arrested

Two brothers were arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district. They even dug a ditch and threatened to bury her alive after finding out she's pregnant.

Two brothers allegedly raped a girl multiple times and attempted to bury her alive after finding out she became pregnant in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district. Police have arrested them, while another suspect remains on the run.

The victim's father lodged a complaint at the Kujang police station. In the complaint, he said that the two brothers, identified as Bhagyadhar Das (60) and Panchanan Das (58), had allegedly raped the 15-year-old for the last one year. The survivor is seven months pregnant, news agency PTI reported.

According to a police officer, the accused brothers worked at a mutt (ashram), which was frequently visited by the minor. The father also alleged that he initially reported the matter to a local panchayat functionary. However, he was offered money by the functionary to suppress the matter. He was even threatened by the accused, who warned him against reporting the matter to the police.

As per a report by NDTV, the accused offered to pay for and facilitate an abortion. They called the minor to a location and when she reached there she found a ditch dug up on the ground. The accused brothers then threatened to bury her alive in the ditch if she did not get the abortion done.

The survivor somehow managed to flee and told her father about her ordeal. A case was then registered against three persons under sections of rape and POCSO Act. Two brothers were arrested on Thursday, while the third accused was absconding, Tirtol SDPO Chinmay Raut told PTI.

The incident came to the fore just four days after a minor was gang-raped in Jagatsinghpur district. The victim is  in critical condition and is currently under treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

Another minor was abducted while she was returning home from her friend's birthday and gang-raped in a forest area. She managed to escape the spot, but was raped again by a truck driver in Malkangiri district.
