'This Is Not Delhi': Moments Before Army Officer, Fiancee Were Assaulted In Odisha

Leaders and Workers of the Biju Janata Dal held protests in front of Raj Bhawan over the incident on Sunday in Bhubaneswar.

A disturbing incident has come to light from Odisha where an Army officer and his fiancee were sexually harassed at a police station in Bhubaneswar. The incident happened when they went to the police station to file a complaint about an attack on them by a few men, the video of which has now emerged on social media.

In the video, the woman and the officer could be seen surrounded by some men, who are seen arguing and pushing them while hurling abuse. ABP LIVE could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

In the video, the woman could be seen speaking to a man saying that some of the people surrounding her had tried to misbehave with her. "Sir, I am not speaking with you, I am speaking with the people who are trying to misbehave with me. They are... It is my car, whether I show my legs or my hair, it is my prerogative," the woman said in Hindi.

A man interjects her saying "Don't show it to us then." The group of men and the woman get involved in a heated argument. As the argument escalates, the Army officer can be seen trying to diffuse the situation by taking her away, but the men follow, shouting, "This is not Delhi."

The men accuse the woman of playing "victim card" and as the Army officer takes the woman to their car, a man slams the front door on her. The woman and the officer are then separated and then manhandle both of them. Towards the end of the video, the woman was heard saying that she would go to the police.

BJD Stages Protest In Bhubaneswar

Workers of the Biju Janata Dal held protests in Bhubaneswar on Saturday over the incident. The workers staged a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan in the state capital.

"Odisha is in the news for all the wrong reasons. The BJP government has made Odisha famous across the world by physically and mentally abusing a woman, and an Army inside the Bharatpur police station, and after that the government is mum. No action has been taken," BJD leader Lekhasri Samantsinghar said.

Rahul Gandhi Slams BJP Govt

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state saying crimes against women in BJP government  have become completely "uncontrolled and unbridled."

"When injustice thrives and finds shelter within the government system itself, then from whom should the common citizen look for help," he questioned.

The Congress leader demanded strict legal punishment for the culprits "to set an example of justice and security before the people of India, especially women."
