At least three people were injured in a mysterious explosion during the demolition of an old mosque structure in the Langate-Handwara area of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The officer said a loud explosion took place suddenly during the demolition, injuring three individuals on the spot, including a 10-year-old boy. The injured were rushed to a nearby health centre, where their condition is said to be stable.
Victims Identified, One Referred for Advanced Treatment
The injured have been identified as 26-year-old Mudasir Ahmad Mir from Nutnusa, 65-year-old Ghulam Ahmad Tantrey from Kachri, and 10-year-old D. A. Lone from Hadipora. One of the victims was later shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Handwara for specialised treatment.
Security forces quickly arrived at the scene following the explosion and cordoned off the area. A police team is currently investigating the cause and origin of the blast. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Handwara confirmed the incident, stating that a detailed investigation is underway to determine the nature of the explosion.

The sudden blast has triggered panic in the locality. Eyewitnesses and local sources reported chaos and fear following the explosion, which occurred during construction work.
