'Not Muslims, We Were Driven Out Of Our Home By...': TMC Shares Bengal Woman's Video After Violence

The TMC alleged that BJP workers attacked locals in Murshidabad, forcing them from their homes. A video shared by TMC shows a woman accusing BJP workers of driving her out for supporting TMC.

The allegations around the Murshidabad violence has taken a sensational turn after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) shared a video to claim that BJP workers had attacked locals to drive them away from their homes. State General Secretary Nilanjan Das shared the video of a woman, purportedly a local, who was among the victims of the Murshidabad violence that followed the Waqf Act protest.

The woman from Shamsherganj claimed to have been driven out of her home by BJP workers for her allegiance to the TMC. "Muslims did not drive us out. The BJP looted everything and ousted us from our homes...," the homeless Hindu woman from the Shamsherganj police station area said. The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified by ABP Live.

"There were no Muslims. The local administration has sheltered us," she said. The woman further says in the video: "They labelled us as Muslims and attacked us as we work for the TMC."

Nilanjan Das alleged: "BJP goons Prabir Saha, Palash Das, and Prasanta Halder are attacking TMC sympathisers!

'Lies': BJP And Trinamool Trade Charges

Local news website Ei Samay quoted BJP's Jangipur organisational district president Subal Chandra Ghosh as saying, "That woman is only parroting the words taught by Trinamool leaders. BJP has nothing to do with the incident. Now, the TMC has started slinging mud at us." In response, Shamsherganj Trinamool MLA Amirul Islam said, "BJP leaders are not used to the truth. They lie from the moment they wake up in the morning and think everyone is like them."

According to district administration sources, more than 500 people have been displaced since the unrest, reported Ei Samay. Police managed to safely return 19 people to their homes on Sunday and 49 more on Monday. Hundreds were returned on Tuesday. Jangipur Superintendent of Police said that six more families would be taken back to their homes on Wednesday. The remaining families will also be brought back very soon, the police said.
