Mumbai Airport Gets Fresh Bomb Threat, Caller Says 'Mohammad Is Travelling With Bombs'

The Mumbai Airport received a bomb threat from an unknown caller on Wednesday. The caller claimed that a person named Mohammad was travelling from Mumbai to Azerbaijan with explosives.

The series of bomb threats to airports continues. Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport on Wednesday afternoon received a call from an unknown person, who informed that there was a plot to blow up the facility. The call was received at the CISF control room.

The caller said that a person named Mohammad was travelling from Mumbai to Azerbaijan with explosives. As soon as the "tip" was received, the CISF alerted the Sahar Police in the greater Mumbai area. After this, the officials immediately started an emergency investigation at the airport.

Since October 14, hundreds of planes have received bomb threats.

Last month, six Mumbai-bound flights were targeted with hoax bomb threats on a single. The flights landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport according to their schedules. The threats were made from an X account. Apart from these, several threats were made via calls and emails and, in one case, a scribbled note.

Later on October 29, a suspect, who allegedly made fake bomb calls to airlines, hotels, banks and other places was arrested in Nagpur, Maharashtra. According to media reports, the person who made multiple calls over several days was identified as 35-year-old Jagdish Uikey, an author. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Khedkar said that a series of emails sent to different organisations led them to Jagdish Uikey, who was holed up in Gondia.

Uikey had written a book on terrorism and was arrested in 2021 in another case. Uikey's last threat was believed to have been to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishanaw. This led the police to strengthen security at railway stations.

Two days before that, a 25-year-old man was taken into custody by Delhi Police. The suspect reportedly confessed to having made fake threats, the police claimed. The man was identified as Shubham Upadhyay from Rajapuri.
