UP Man, In Love With Woman, Stabbed 18 Times With Screwdriver; Arrested
Ealier, the police suspected that the woman was raped before she was killed as blood was coming from her private parts. However, the postmortem confirmed that she wasn't raped.
A woman was tortured with a screwdriver and killed by the man who claimed to be in love with her in Uttar Pradesh. Her body was found with blood-soaked clothes along with stab wounds at the Kotwali Mainather in Moradabad on Sunday.
The woman identified as 'Saira', left home on Saturday in order to get fodder for cattle, but did not return home till evening. When her family looked for her everywhere, she was found in the fields of the Village, according to a report by NDTV.
Initially, police suspected that the woman was raped before she was killed as blood was coming from her private parts. However, the postmortem confirmed that she wasn't raped but was stabbed with a sharp weapon.
During the investigation, police discovered five missed calls on Saira's phone. Upon tracing the number, they identified it as belonging to a man named Rafi, a resident of the same village.
Woman Stabbed 18 Times
Saira's mother, Safina, informed the police that Rafi had been harassing her daughter. Following this, the police detained Rafi for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to killing Saira.
"Rafi said that he loved Saira, but she didn't reciprocate his feelings. He said that a few days ago, she had got him beaten up by a man from the village. He suspected that Saira was in a relationship with the man who thrashed her," a police official said.
According to the police, Rafi had been stalking Saira for two days after the incident. On Saturday, he followed her to a field and attacked her with a screwdriver, stabbing her approximately 18 times. Rafi has since been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
"When Saira started writhing in pain and begged for her life to Rafi, he pierced her private parts with a screwdriver. She died soon after. He then shook her, and when he was sure that she was dead, he went home, took a bath, changed his clothes and went to sleep," the police added.
