Monsoon Picks Up Pace In Uttar Pradesh, Heavy Rain Alert Issued In 36 Districts
The rains are expected to bring a notable drop of 3–4°C in maximum temperatures over the next 2–3 days.

The monsoon has officially arrived in Uttar Pradesh, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. Several parts of the state witnessed rainfall on Thursday (June 20), offering respite to residents, although intermittent cloud cover and sunshine caused humidity in some regions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon has advanced further into the state and is set to intensify over the next few days. From June 20 to 23, widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the state, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.
Orange Alert In Eastern UP
The IMD has issued an orange alert for several eastern districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas. A total of 36 districts, including Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Kanpur, have been flagged for potential intense rainfall and lightning today. The remaining parts of the state are also likely to experience rain.
Mathura, Agra, Hathras, Etah, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Auraiya, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Kanpur, Fatehpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Etawah, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, and Sonbhadra.
Apart from the 36 high-alert districts, light to moderate rain is expected in regions like Saharanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Gorakhpur, among others.
