Man Stabs 14-Day-Old Daughter To Death, Dumps Body In Garbage In Hyderabad; Arrested

Originally from Nepal, Jagat worked as a watchman and lived with his wife and two daughters. It is being suspected that the accused killed his daughter because he did not want another girl child.

A man on Thursday killed his 14-day-old baby girl in Hyderabad, Telangana. The accused, identified as Jagat, stabbed his daughter to death near his home in Gulshan Colony in the city. He was later taken into police custody based on complaint filed by the accused's wife.

Originally from Nepal, Jagat worked as a watchman and lived in Gulshan Colony with his wife and two daughters. It is being suspected by the cops that the accused killed his daughter because he did not want another girl child, Times Of India reported.

According to the report, the incident took place at 2:00 AM on Thursday, when his wife and two daughters were asleep. He picked up his third daughter and took her to an isolated spot near his house where he slit the baby girl's throat with a sharphead weapon.

The accused then dumped her body in a garbage heap near Seven Tombs under the Golconda police station limits in Hyderabad and returned home. It was only after his wife woke up at around 5:00 AM and found the baby missing that the matter was unearthed. She confronted her husband, who then confessed to killing the baby. The accused was arrested by the police.

"Yesterday, in the early morning hours around 2 am, a man named Jagath, a Nepalese national who had been residing and working as a watchman in an apartment for one year, killed his 14-day-old baby girl," police said, as reported by news agency ANI. 

"He took the body outside the apartment, stabbed her in the neck, and threw the baby's body near a garbage dump in Tolichowki. His wife filed a complaint, and we have taken the accused into custody. The accused has not revealed the motives behind the crime," the Inespector of Golconda police station said.

The Inspector of Golconda police station said that further investigation is underway.
