Man Rescued After Being Swept Away By Floodwaters Outside Ajmer’s Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah | VIDEO

Heavy rainfall in Rajasthan triggers floods in cities like Ajmer, where a man was swept away near Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah. A viral video shows his dramatic rescue amid severe waterlogging.

Rajasthan has been experiencing continuous rainfall for over 24 hours, leading to flood-like conditions in several parts of the state. Cities such as Ajmer, Bundi, Pushkar, Sawai Madhopur, and Pali are facing severe waterlogging, with the water level in Ana Sagar Lake crossing its boundaries.

Ajmer, in particular, has been severely affected. Several areas, including the popular tourist destination Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz, have been inundated. The lanes around the Dargah are submerged, resembling fast-flowing streams.

Man Swept By Heavy Current

Amid these conditions, a video has gone viral on the internet showing a man being swept away by the strong water currents after losing his balance. The incident occurred outside the Dargah's Nizam Gate. Despite attempts by bystanders to pull him to safety, the force of the water made it difficult to help him.

The lane is packed with shops and hotels. As the man drifted close to one of the shops, a hotel staff member quickly grabbed his hand and managed to pull him out of the stream. Others then rushed to help him stand on his feet again.

The video shows the man wearing a yellow kurta and holding a water bottle as he is swept away by the forceful floodwaters near the shrine.

Heavy Rains Trigger House Collapse and Lake Overflow in Ajmer

A house in Ajmer’s Lakhan Kotdi area collapsed on Saturday morning following relentless downpours, according to PTI. Fortunately, the family residing there had vacated the premises just a day earlier after noticing structural cracks.

Meanwhile, the continuous rainfall has caused Ana Sagar Lake to overflow. Vinod Manohar, Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation, said widespread waterlogging has resulted from the overflowing of the lake’s outlet. He confirmed that the channel gates had been opened to manage the excess water.

Flood-Like Conditions in Rajasthan: SDRF Rescues Over 170 People in Ajmer

Torrential rains across Rajasthan have disrupted normal life, especially in Ajmer district. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) evacuated 176 residents to safer locations. The southwest monsoon has brought heavy rainfall to many parts of the state, causing chaos and waterlogging.

SDRF Commandant Rajendra Singh Sisodia said the Ajmer Police Control Room received multiple distress calls on the evening of July 18, reporting people stranded in various neighbourhoods. Rapid response teams were deployed, and officials confirmed that the city's lakes and ponds are overflowing due to continuous rainfall.

Flood-like conditions were reported in several cities on Saturday, including Ajmer, Pushkar, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, and Pali, after 24 hours of intense rain. The highest rainfall was recorded in Nainwa (234.0 mm) in Bundi district, followed by Merta City in Nagaur (230 mm), Mangliawas in Ajmer (190 mm), Nasirabad in Ajmer (180 mm), and Pratapgarh (160 mm).
