Bihar Man 'Murdered' 17 Years Ago Found Alive In UP, 4 Convicts Say 'Free Of Taint'

While enquiring, the police identified the man as Nathuni Pal, a resident of Deoria in Bihar, and found that the man had been staying in the village for six months.

A 50-year-old man, declared dead 17 years ago, has been discovered alive in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. The revelation has shaken a long-standing murder case in which the man's paternal uncle and three brothers served jail time for his alleged murder.

As per the report by NDTV, while the uncle has since passed away, the three brothers are currently out on bail. The case took a dramatic turn when Jhansi Police found a man registered as "deceased" in Bihar Police records during a routine patrol on January 6.

Amid enquiring, the police identified the man as Nathuni Pal, a resident of Deoria in Bihar, and found that the man had been staying in the village for six months.

Further investigation disclosed that the man lives in the village alone and recently returned to Jhansi. "My parents died when I was a child, and my wife left me long back. It has been around 16 years since I last visited my home in Bihar," he said.

Investigations revealed that Pal had gone missing in 2009 or earlier. Following his disappearance, his maternal uncle filed a complaint accusing another uncle and four brothers of killing Pal to take over his land.

One of the brothers accused of the alleged murder, Satendra Pal, said, "My youngest sibling, who is in the police, was also named but after pleading with the Deputy Inspector General, his name was removed from the FIR." "My father, I, and two brothers served eight months each in jail. Currently, we are out on bail," he added.

Satendra broke down upon learning that Nathuni was alive. "We are finally free of the taint of murder," he said. Although the case remains in court, Nathuni Pal has been handed over to Bihar Police for further investigation.

According to Aaj Tak report, Jhansi Police said, Nathuni Pal revealed that his parents had passed away while he was still living in his village. After several years of marriage without having children, his wife also left him. Following this, he went to live with his cousins. He owned approximately two and a half bighas of land. In 2008, he left the village and never returned. After wandering around, he arrived here six months ago.
