Maharashtra: Stone Pelting Among 2 Groups After Minister's Driver Blows Car Horn

A clash broke out between two groups in Jalgaon, Maharashtra after a driver of state minister Gulabrao Patil blew a car horn irritating villagers.

A clash broke out between two groups in Maharashtra's Jalgaon on Wednesday after state minister Gulabrao Patil's driver blew a car horn that irked locals of Paladhi village.

The row began after a driver carrying the Shiv Sena minister's family blew the horn of the car. A brawl ensued between the villagers and party supporters after which the enraged mob pelted stones and set ablaze shops and vehicles.

After the incident, police personnel were deployed in large numbers in the district and around 25 people were booked with 10 detained.

Jalgaon Senior Superintendent of Police Kavita Nerkar said a curfew was imposed in the district till Thursday, 6 pm.

"On Tuesday night, a fight broke out over a minor dispute between two groups in Parda village under Dharan village police station, in which some shops were set on fire. Therefore, we have deployed a large number of police forces, at present the situation is under control," said the SSP.

"The incident took place due to an internal dispute, a case has been registered against 20-25 unknown people. There is an appeal to the villagers not to go against the law and maintain peace," the police official added.

In July last year, an incident of stone pelting came to light from the district where a large gathering attacked the Bhusawal Nandurbar passenger train. Video of the incident surfaced on social media where some passengers were seen panicking as a few stones landed inside.

A woman was heard urging all passengers to close the coach's windows as a protective measure, even as the train continued moving.

Following the viral video, the Railway Protection Force registered a complaint against unidentified persons.

As per the chief public relations officer of Western Railway, a substantial number of people were travelling from Bhusawal to Bhortek to attend a religious event. RPF personnel were also present on the train.
