Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde Receives Death Threat On Social Media, Case Registered

A video surfaced showing threats and abuse towards Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The person responsible, Hitesh Dhende, is being sought by police.

A video threatening Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has gone viral on social media.

As per the information, a youth abused and threatened Deputy CM Shinde on Instagram Live.

It is being told that the person who threatened Shinde is Hitesh Prakash Dhende (24), a resident of Thane. A case has been registered in this matter at Srinagar Police Station in Thane and the police is searching for the youth.

Shiv Sena officials said that Hitesh Dhende, a person from Srinagar area, made a live video on Instagram and threatened to kill Eknath Shinde, in an abusive post.

As per the information, angry Shiv Sena office-bearers gathered in large numbers outside Srinagar police station, after the video went viral. They demanded that a case to be registered against the youth.

Even after the police registered a case, Shiv Sena activists said that they have also started searching for the accused, as reported by Lokmat.

Earlier, on December 20, two bike-borne men were caught on CCTV allegedly conducting a recce of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut's residence, Maitri Bungalow, in Mumbai's Bhandup. The development comes just months after NCP MLA Baba Siddiqui was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siqqiqui's office. Reacting to the incident, Sanjay Raut said, "Not only my house but Saamana office and my Delhi house were also spied upon." Saamana is the mouthpiece of the Shiv Sena (UBT).

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on January 5, described the results of the 2024 Assembly Elections as a slap in the face of the opposition, who had also criticized the Election Commission and the Supreme Court.

In the recent assembly elections, the 'Mahayuti' alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party won 230 out of 288 seats in the state, of which Shinde's party got 57 seats. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) got only 20 seats.
